Curated by Péter Bencze

Opening: 9 April, 2019, 6 pm

In her works, Omara Mara Oláh (b. 1945), a painter of Romani descent, creates self-portraits and depicts events that happen with and around her. Her paintings often contain texts that recount and interpret the portrayed scene. Poverty, the vulnerability of the minorities, and, within that, the fate of women, comprise the central themes of her works.

The artworks exhibited feature a selection of her versatile oeuvre while also prove the authencity of her stories that were often labeled as fantasy.
